This week i went with a classic buffalo chicken…. minus the chicken. I decided to make a “baked Buffalo Cauliflower.” Like i always say, diets should never just consist of salads so i wanted to make a healthy dish that tasted super good and was filling without all the breading and frying. I found that the flavor of the sauce was really good and tasted just like actual wing sauce. However the consistency wasn’t as good as i was expecting it to be. When i took my first bite i found the cauliflower to be kind of squishy and my family said the same. I was hoping for a more chicken-like crisp. The upside of it was that it was really easy and was just a matter of creating the mixture, coating the cauliflower bites, and then putting them into the oven, (keep in mind i didn’t attempt to make the ranch that goes along with the recipe). Luckily i’m not just looking for foods that are going to taste “amazing” on the first try. Experimenting and trying new things is good for the overall improvement of healthy cooking and for future food experiments. I also find it to be super fun and exciting to try new things. We all know that pinterest DIY’s don’t always turn out like we expect them to. I think that if i were to make this recipe again i would probably put the cauliflower bites into the oven on broil for as long as it takes for them to become as crispy as possible. Overall i don’t think i would recommend this creation to someone to try until i found out a way to improve it. I’ve attached the link of the recipe and directions below just incase you think you could find a way to improve it.
For my very first dish i decided to go with a healthy yet filling dinner. I found this recipe on Pinterest and thought it looked pretty easy and like a great experiment for my whole family to try out. This is a “One Pan Mexican Quinoa.” I thought that a lot of people on health kicks would love this because quinoa is sort of the “in” food right now and is super good for you. This recipe can be prepared several different ways. You could make it into a lettuce wrap and simply put about three spoonfuls of the creation into a lettuce boat and eat it like that, or you could make it into a burrito and put it on a wheat tortilla, and lastly you could put it straight into a bowl and eat it just like that. I tried all three ways and found that i personally found it to be most satisfying just straight from a bowl with some salsa and shredded lettuce on top, but all three ways were a big hit from my family. Overall this was a delicious meal that i would definitely recommend to everyone looking for a hearty dinner and/or lunch packed with nutrients and protein! I didn’t realize this till after but i thought it would be quite delicious to add some ground turkey to the mixture. It only took about 30 minutes to cook and was super easy. A plus to this meal was that we had a lot of leftovers that could be heated up for lunch and tasted just as good, if not better the 3rd or 4th time around. I have attached a link that includes the recipe, ingredients and a picture that will make your mouth water and have you wanting this food in your belly ASAP!
After pondering many different options from fashion to beauty tips, i have finally decided what i want to write my blog about. Since i am a huge lover of food but not so much for the calories, i am going to be making and trying out foods that are healthy yet delicious. Who wants to be confined to salads and bland diet foods? I know that i don’t. So many people think that in order to be healthy that have to torture themselves with gross and non-filling foods. I am going to prove those people wring with various pinterest recipes. So this way i will be able to try out new yummy and healthy food options that will be sweet and savory, while at the same time letting you know if they are worth the hassle or not. The foods i will be trying will all be pinterest based foods. In my posts i will include a picture of the food, the instructions and ingredients, and what i think of the turnout and any tips i have to make it better. I am going to be sure to include breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snack recipes so that you can know what to eat throughout your entire day. On this journey i hope to find easy everyday meals and turn them into a lifestyle that will leave me feeling refreshed and satisfied. I have read that healthy eating can change a person’s outlook on life and on themselves. A fresh start since it is still only the second month of 2016 will be good for the mind and the body. My main goal is to encourage myself and others to try new things and to treat their bodies how they deserve to be treated. Lets all eat to live instead of live to eat!
